Cacao Ceremony · Community Meditation

A Sacred Journey for Body, Mind, Heart & Soul

A Cacao Ceremony is a consciously held ritual space — an invitation to step away from the speed and noise of everyday life and enter into a deeper relationship with yourself.

Often called our community meditation — held once a month, on the new moon.

Connect · Breathe · Feel · Remember — together.

Save your space

With your body. With your breath. With your heart. With your inner world. With nature.

And, if this resonates with you, with something greater than yourself.

At the centre of the ceremony is ceremonial cacao — prepared with prayers, intention, gratitude, and respect.

Honouring the roots

Cacao has held cultural, social, ceremonial, and sacred significance within different Indigenous cultures of Mesoamerica for thousands of years. At Soulwayo, we honour these roots with humility. Our ceremonies are not presented as a reproduction of one specific ancient Indigenous tradition. Rather, we consciously bring cacao into our own integrative way of working with body awareness, psychological and psycho-spiritual understanding, Breathwork, Yoga, meditation, movement, music, nature, ritual, and community.

We see cacao as a plant companion within an intentional process — supporting a space in which we can slow down, become more receptive, listen more deeply, and meet what is already present within us.

Because sometimes the most profound journey is not the journey towards something new. It is the journey back to yourself.
What is in cacao

Ceremonial cacao naturally contains a variety of compounds, including theobromine, cocoa flavanols and minerals such as magnesium.

Cocoa flavanols have been studied particularly for their relationship with normal vascular function and blood flow. Theobromine is a naturally occurring stimulant found in cacao and is generally experienced differently from stronger caffeine-dominant stimulation.

Within ceremony, its physical qualities become one part of a much larger experience involving breath, movement, rest, awareness, music, intention, and connection.

Is Cacao Ceremony for Everyone?

Ceremonial cacao is a food and is generally well tolerated by many people, but cacao also contains biologically active substances including theobromine and some caffeine.

Individual sensitivity, the amount consumed, the cacao preparation, health conditions, and medications can all matter.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a cardiovascular or other significant medical condition, take regular medication, are particularly sensitive to stimulants, or are unsure whether ceremonial cacao is appropriate for you, please speak with an appropriate healthcare professional and let us know before participating.

Our ceremonies are intended to support self-exploration, embodiment, connection, and personal reflection. They are not a substitute for medical treatment, psychotherapy, psychiatric care, or other professional healthcare.

Your wellbeing and your boundaries always come first.

Return to your body. Return to your heart. Return to yourself.
